A light rain falls, the streets are empty and silent, with only a few umbrellas moving slowly. The news of Ethereum's plummet flashes on my phone screen, and my account balance is down to three digits. The desolation outside intertwines with my own downfall.
I am filled with unwillingness; how did I end up in such a situation? From a small-town test-taker, I got into Wuhan University, then pursued my master's at the University of Hong Kong, giving my all at every step. Yet now, I have lost everything.
Last year, I quit my job and plunged into the cryptocurrency field with 200,000 yuan saved over a year and a half. At first, everything seemed great. I watched the market daily, researched projects, and analyzed trends, feeling freer than at work, as I was fighting for myself. At that time, I made some money and made a group of friends, all exploring and sharing opportunities together.
From the beginning of the year to the end, I was in good shape, accumulating over 1 million yuan in profits, but I never withdrew any. By December, I struggled to keep up with the fierce market competition and judged that altcoins would enter a boom period, so I decided to buy the dip on BOME. I fantasized about replicating last year's PEPE miracle, buying from 0.008 all the way down to 0.003, but the crash this morning directly led to my liquidation. In fact, the leverage I used wasn't high, less than 3 times.
I bet everything, yet still lost it all.
The most ironic part is that after returning home, I urged my parents to buy the dip, having them start buying $bome from 0.004, averaging down to 0.003, and today it has nearly halved. I could accept losing money myself, but dragging my parents down with me is truly a sin, sigh.
This year has been like sitting on pins and needles, opening the exchange every day to see my account shrink, explaining my work to friends and family without any confidence. Clearly exhausted every day, yet I have neither made money nor lived easily, and I face ridicule from relatives saying, "After studying so much, you still don't have a stable job."
I am genuinely curious, who can still make money on exchanges? Coins that have dropped 5 times can drop another 4 times, and they plummet 4-5 times as soon as they go online? In such circumstances, can anyone really make money?
My feelings are extremely complicated now, filled with unwillingness yet also confusion and helplessness. I feel like I've tried my best, yet the results are always unsatisfactory. Those goals that once made my blood boil now feel like paper soaked in rain, blurred and unclear. I don't know where to go in the future, nor do I know if I can pick myself up again.
